This role can be based in El Paso, TX, Madison, WI, La Crosse, WI, Richmond, VA and Trenton, NJ.

Job Overview: The Interpreter provides in-person interpretation to facilitate, with accuracy, impartiality, and confidentiality, the language needs of Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals and their service providers. Activities include providing professional interpretation services on site for a special project welcoming SIV applicants who have been evacuated from Afghanistan.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•Provide accurate, impartial, and confidential interpretation to LEP individuals and service providers in a variety of settings ranging in complexity, including medical and immigration services.

• Services are required in-person for an initial duration of two weeks.

•Track assignments and work hours as assigned.

•Participate in orientation session.

•Abide by all rules established for the project.

•Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education and Certifications:

•Interpretation certification preferred.

•High school diploma strongly preferred.

•Formal education in linguistics or related field preferred.

Work Experience:

•Minimum 1 year professional interpretation experience preferred.

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:

•Cultural sensitivity; ability to build trust with clients, colleagues, and partners.

•Proficient in English, both spoken and written.

•Spoken proficiency in Dari and Pashto

•Flexibility and ability to follow guidance

Working Environment:

•Defined location within US military base

•Will require weekend and/or evening work
