Child Protection Programme Specialist- Based in North East Syria

The Opportunity

The Child Protection Programme Specialist will lead on supporting the operationalization and contextualisation of SCI's technical approach to child protection programming in North East Syria, as per the Syria Response Strategy and Programme Offer.
The Child Protection Programme Specialist will be expected to work closely with the Senior Child Protection Technical Adviser, based in Amman, to oversee the contextualisation and implementation of child protection-related assessments, programme design, technical quality and learning in collaboration with the MEAL team, Field Managers, Area Coordinators and various other stakeholders in North East Syria. She/he will have a focus on ensuring safe and quality programming, strengthening coherence across the diverse child protection portfolio (PSS/resilience building, CP monitoring, child protection case management, CAAFAG) while working with other sector Specialists to ensure effective integration and information sharing, particularly at the programme design phase.
She/he will oversee the quality of the implementation of child protection activities in the field and work closely with the MEAL team to ensure monitoring & evaluation of the interventions are in place. She/he will analyse data shared through the monitoring & evaluation of CP activities, and will contribute to the technical aspects of relevant donor reporting. It will be the CP Programme Specialist's responsibility to ensure that learnings from implementation are considered and utilised to inform programme design and adaptation,
The CP Program Specialist will also play a leadership role within NES, supporting and building the capacity of national staff, partners, and relevant stakeholders and providing technical support to the existing Save the Children Child Protection programmes to increase impact and enable positive change for girls and boys in northeast Syria. This includes working closely with the Senior CP TA to identify capacity building needs, devise immediate and longer-term solutions, and providing close coaching and mentoring of the program implementation team and partners. The CP Programme Specialist will be responsible for representing SC in relevant external coordination groups, and to build networks and coordinate across sectors with local authorities and other relevant stakeholders.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

* Minimum of 5 years' experience working in the field of child protection in emergencies

* Education at Masters level in a relevant subject and/or equivalent field experience
* Previous experience of programme management across multiple locations
* Previous experience of contributing to successful funding proposals for donors
* Budget development and financial management skills
* Demonstrated experience in leading assessment activities and of designing, managing, monitoring and evaluating education programmes in emergencies for international NGOs.
* Proven capacity to supervise, train and coach staff in CPiE technical skills and in delivering training to a range of stakeholders
* Experience of applying relevant interagency humanitarian frameworks and standards in CP in emergencies
* Experience of representation, including on coordination mechanisms (e.g. Cluster or working groups), and working with government authorities.
* Field- and community-oriented
* A high level of written and spoken English
* Excellent communication skillsPolitically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
* Strong team building, influencing skills and experience in advocacy
* The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
* Commitment to the aims and principles of SC. In particular, a good understanding of the SC mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support

* Language skills in Kurdish and Arabic
* Experience or knowledge of working and living in relevant regions/contexts
