Alliance Accounting Regional Program Accountant

Under the supervision of the Regional Program Accounting Manager, the Alliance Regional Program Accountant key priority is to enable all country offices to operate alliance accounting methodology for European-funded awards and is responsible for providing accounting and compliance support to local and Regional field offices, including training, transactional review, and oversight functions. Tasks include the review of accounting documents, multiple monthly account reconciliations, and general reporting functions. Additionally, this position provides support and expertise to the Regional Program Accountant team with training, system troubleshooting and special projects.


  • Prepares and/or reviews entries for posting in ERP Accounting system
  • Primary person for bringing Field Offices onto Agency Treatment accounting
  • SME for rest of RPA team on Agency Treatment Accounting or EU specific compliance topics
  • Provide training on Agency Treatment policies and procedures to field office teams in close collaboration with the rest of the F&A team
  • Assist with troubleshooting issues on Agency Treatment transactions
  • Additional support to other HQ Admin teams (IEU and IUS) for Agency Treatment transaction (like audit pulls, investigating issues, etc)
  • In charge of voucher review for Agency Treatment transactions.
  • Ensure Agency Treatment transactions accurate and timely transmittal to headquarters.
  • Provides ERP support to field offices on Agency Treatment related aspects, including new employee training, continued learning and troubleshooting
  • Supports Field Offices setup and close out of Agency Treatment projects.
  • Sets up assets in ERP for taggable goods and equipment purchased by Agency Treatment projects
  • Directs field office inventory process for Agency Treatment project assets,
  • Manages accounting Agency Treatment entries in separate company accounting records for HQ managed subsidiary entities, in partnership with HQ Accounting Ops team
  • Supports the Manager, Regional Program Accounting, the rest of Regional Program Accountants, and performs other accounting duties as assigned

  • Excellent communication skills including proven ability to effectively communicate with others who are not using their native tongue
  • Solid experience of progressively complex accounting experience
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as an effective team member
  • Proven ability to prioritize and handle multiple on-going assignments.
  • Proven ability of staff capacity building in field offices on accounting policies and procedures
  • Intermediate expertise in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proven ability to set priorities and manage time effectively.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, up to 20% from base to international locations, including challenging or remote locations
  • Relevant university degree


  • Fluent in English and French
  • Accounting Certification or advanced degree (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, CA, CMA, MBA etc)
  • Experience working with international donors in particular UN, US government and European donors.
  • Experience working with remote teams.
  • Familiarity with Unit 4 Agresso accounting software
  • Multilingual
