Instructional Designer Consultant

Training Programs in Epidemiology & Public Health Interventions Network (TEPHINET), in collaboration with CDC, is seeking a full-time Instructional Designer Consultant to serve as a technical expert to design and create public health emergency response hybrid courses (computer-based and in-person). These hybrid courses will complement current Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) training curricula geared towards current fellows (Intermediate/Advanced tier) which supplements alumni continuing education using innovative technology and learning solutions. Addressing this gap in field epidemiology training across the FETP network represents the greatest opportunity to strengthen national public health and humanitarian emergency response capacity across the network.

· Design experiential online and hybrid learning experiences appropriate for adult professional learners

· Work closely with subject matter experts to craft, revise, and maintain training and additional learning content

· Collaborate with TEPHINET/CDC staff and faculty on curriculum development and instructional design needs

· Oversee instructional design and content development activities

· Develop, in collaboration with project teams, learning objectives, assessment questions that demonstrate knowledge, and assist with question development and updating

· Participate in monitoring and evaluation planning for education programs and online learning

· Design, develop, and maintain classroom, virtual classroom, and self-paced training content

· Provide initial technical support on individual learning modules, the Learning Management System, or for the virtual classroom as needed

· Consult in development of assessment instruments to measure efficacy of learning content and curriculum in meeting program goals

· Spearhead review of all online course content and prepare new course scripts to optimize learner experience

· Research and script online videos

· Evaluate text for outdated learning or sector policies on a short timeline, and confidently update sections with input from project teams

· Plan for an ongoing system of training review and user feedback, including: expansion of training to other venues, languages, and geographical regions; expansion of access to training via hand-held devices and remote access; and combining on-line training with simulations and field educational programs

· Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree required, graduate degree in a relevant field preferred.

· Submission of application, resume or CV, and work sample.

· Professional level of instructional design education and experience.

· Prior experience working in humanitarian or development settings related to public health preferred.

· Minimum two years of experience developing, conducting, and/or managing training programs in public health preferred.

· Three or more years as a lead content developer, or depth of experience as part of an Instructional Systems Design team, working on programming related to adult learning, executive education, and professional development.
