AVAZ ASSOCIATION LOOKS FOR A FINANCE OFFICER (ŞANLIURFA)

The AVAZ Association has been established as a local non-governmental organization on August 8, 2017 by a group of civil society volunteers in Şanlıurfa, Turkey. The main aim of establishment was to contribute to the development of the lives of disadvantaged people within the community in Şanlıurfa, at the local level. In line with the universal norms and U.N. conventions on rights, the AVAZ is dedicated to promote and protect the basic human rights of disadvantaged individuals and groups as well as the rights of refugees and asylum seekers in Şanlıurfa, and in S.E Turkey. For this purpose, AVAZ works to offer young and adult trainings, formal education supports for children, women empowerment programs and livelihood support such as start-up supports.

AVAZ Association is looking for a Finance Officer to work with a 6-month contract (with the possibility of extension) in a project to be carried out in Şanlıurfa.

The Finance Officer will be responsible for fulfilling following tasks and responsibilities:

  1. Ensure that complete and accurate accounting records for all AVAZ’s transactions are maintained, and accounting software is updated and reviewed in a timely manner

  2. Assist with AVAZ’s banking operations, preparing and making payments, reconciling accounts

  3. Ensure safety and security of financial documents

  4. Participate in procurement activities (receiving bids, opening committees and analyzing of bids )

Required Qualifications, Experience and Attributes

• University degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in accounting, economics, business administration, finance or a related field.

• A desire to learn and work in a challenging but rewarding environment

• Ability to work under pressure alone and as part of a team

• A strong sense of integrity, and responsibility.

• Attention to detail

• Good working knowledge of Excel

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Excellent command of spoken and written English.

Desirable

  1. Experience with an international organization will be an advantage.

  2. Familiar with QuickBooks Accounting system will be an advantage.

Previous Knowledge on QuickBooks Accounting Software is a plus.

Other

· Having Republic of Turkey citizenship,

· Having minimum a B.A. degree,

· To be able to use MS Office programs actively and creatively.

· Fluent writing and speaking in English and Turkish

· Having work experience in civil society or willing to work in civil society,

· Resident in Sanliurfa or may reside in Şanlıurfa on own resources (unfortunately we have no service available for housing benefit/lodging.)

· Ability to work in a planned way, paying attention to ethical values, being fair and respectful to rights,

· Knowing the difference btw working for civil society and in market conditions,

· Respectful to language, religion, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc. and respecting human rights and freedoms;

· Recognizing that the beneficiaries, who are the target groups in civil society activities, are individuals rather than statistics,

· Having sense of responsibility and problem solving skills,

· To be able to work in accordance with the mission and vision of AVAZ Association and represent these values.

Salary: 8928,00 TL [Gross + SGK Costs + Tax]. The average net wage is at 5500,00 TL level, but varies in month according to the categories of Minimum Living Allowance (AGI).
