Job Description

We are seeking an experieinced ICT Coordinator with at least 3 years working in IT roles at similar or equivalent level. They are an effective leader with proven technical ICT management expertise, experience in leading technology projects, and broad knowledge or experience of ICT tools and solutions. They will also be able to work successfully with remote teams and possess a business-level proficiency in both written and verbal English.

Role and responsibilities

The ICT Coordinator is a role covering our Syria Offices and is responsible for ensuring all NRC Global & Local ICT policies and guidelines are implemented and to ensure the implementation of technology solutions to drive scale and impact across its operations. Working with country level ICT focal points and senior managers, this position will guide and ensure field level ICT strategy for NRC Syria is in line with global objectives and compliant with our overall framework.

Responsibilities related to this role include:

  1. Technical support to analyse and identify solutions / work around in terms of accessing NRC systems in relation to sanctions, embargo and data segregation issues. Ensuring new digital initiatives promoted by NRC are practicable in Syria and if not a. immediately make management aware b. propose alternative options.
  2. Support the Country offices to maintain an efficient, responsive and accountable system of user support within the country offices.
  3. Explore and recommend ICT and digital solutions for challenging set ups i.e. remote offices.
  4. Ensure software, hardware and network installs, re-installs, upgrades, moves, changes and relocations are planned and implemented when necessary and as required.
  5. Develop, roll-out and oversee the implementation of a country level ICT Policy and guidelines
  6. Support the local ICT teams to ensure a unified network and computer setup for all the field offices.
  7. Support the local ICT teams to ensure system security including all NRC Networks, Servers, and Computers always free of virus and malicious code.
  8. In line with the NRC global ecosystem advise the country offices on various digital initiatives to incorporate in programs coming up with solution deployments and advise country management in selecting the best solution that the program teams need i.e. Covid and post covid digital solutions for NRC programmes in Syria
  9. Implement field assessment / feasibility studies on any ICT global initiative, to ensure its practical viability in the field.
  10. Technology standards within the country offices are maintained to a high specification by standardizing ICT equipment, software and systems and developing SOPs that ensure adherence to them including the connectivity and infrastructure status in all offices is sufficient to support the NRC online resources.
  11. Ensure adequate security (and data protection) standards (e.g. CIS) are applied to all applications and/or locally developed solutions in the country offices includes being the country technical focal point in the case of a serious data breach / cyber-attack and /or any investigation that may require ICT support.
  12. Regularly report where appropriate and/or escalate to the country management groups on technology adoption, digital skill improvements, technology-related/cybersecurity risks, etc.
