Job Summary

The Project Coordinator will take the lead in the implementation of UNICEF funded multigrade schools project in the area of coverage in Samar and Northen Samar Provinces. As project lead, the Project Coordinator will ensure that proper planning and coordination is in place; project activities are implemented as planned and in accordance to the approved budget; on time submission of project reports and compliance to Educo’s policies and procedures. This is a fixed term position for the period of 9 months and will be based in Northen Samar (Catarman).


A. Planning and Coordination

• Take the lead in the development of project implementation plan and budget with support from Education Technical Specialist.

• Maintain coordination with DepEd’s division levels in Samar and Northern Samar for the implementation of project activities in the target schools.

B. Project Implementation

• Facilitate the implementation the project activities in accordance to approved plan and budget.

• Monitor closely the progress of activities and propose necessary adjustment if needed in consultation with Education Technical Specialist and local partners.

• Act as budget holder, taking full responsibility in preparing budget forecast and monitoring project expenses in coordination with Finance Department.

• Ensure that all finance and procurement policies and procedures, including of the donor if relevant, are followed in the implementation of project activities.

• Work closely with MEAL Unit to conduct baseline surveys and monitor project achievement against the target in order to measure project achievements and impact.

C. Reports Management

• Monitor reporting requirements to the donor based from the signed agreement. Prepares draft of the report for review by Education Technical Specialist and DoP before submission.

• Prepare and submit monthly accomplishment report in accordance with Educo’s project reporting requirements.

• Ensure proper documentation of the project and all project documents are organized.

D. Compliance to Corporate Mandates

• Comply with all organizational policies and standards such as but not limited to Child Safeguarding Policy, Anti-Fraud, Whistle Blower Policy, and P&C, Finance and Operations policies and procedures

E. Personal Development

t • Attends internal and external facilitated training events, workshops, symposiums, studies, conferences to enhance level of performance. Maximize the use of ICT for greater awareness of local and global trends affecting development work. Accepts special objective assignments for skills enhancement and expansion. Shares learning to benefit others.

F. Others

• Performs other tasks that are needed to ensure deliverables of project/program implementation will be met.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education preferably Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Graduates of other course may be considered if s/he has the experience and competency requirements of the role
  • Experience working with INGOs, preferably with child-rights and women’s rights organizations
  • Minimum experience of at least 5 years in relevant roles
  • Exposed and has knowledge in managing and implementing education project, preferably in Samar or Northern Samar
  • Ability to prioritize and manage a complex and varied workload, often with tight deadlines.
  • Currently based in Samar or Northern Samar or willing to re-locate to the area
  • Experience implementing UN funded projects will be an added advantage
