Finn Church Aid (FCA) is looking for a Project Coordinator for the Secretariat of the Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers (NRTP).

The Project Coordinator will be working as part of the Europe and MENA regional programme team of the Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers secretariat based in Helsinki.

The Project Coordinator is responsible for coordination and implementation of FCA/network led activities of the EU ISF-P funded consortium project ‘Strengthening the security and resilience of at-risk religious sites and communities’ (SOAR).

SOAR programme contributes to advancing the protection and safeguarding of places for worship in EU member states by increasing awareness and capacity to respond to the physical and human security threats affecting places of worship in EU members states. SOAR consortium will advance this objective via range of activities including; research activities to build evidence base, developing capacity building and training tools and other resources for religious communities and places of worship and relevant stakeholders, and organising awareness raising campaigns and policy dialogue/briefings to increase awareness of the topic and advance exchange of best practice in this field. The project activities will directly be piloted in seven EU member states, but the project will engage wider European and Global community of practice via policy dialogue and advocacy activities.

The Project Coordinator ensures, that the EU grant and internal guidelines are followed, and leads the project activities, that are under FCA/ NRTP work package in the project. The Project coordinator manages partner and other stakeholder relations and communication contributing to the successful implementation and achievement of consortium project objectives and delivery of activities.

Project coordinator demonstrates advanced knowledge of peace-building and working with faith communities on issues relating to community safeguarding and engagement and awareness raising activities, with special focus on minority communities and inclusivity, working with women and youth networks.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the overall project implementation; including project coordination, planning, monitoring and reporting (internal and external) of project activities that include:
  • Leads the training module development on safety and inclusivity based on research findings in collaboration with the Senior researcher and partners
  • Capacity-building activities; provides safety awareness trainings for youth and women networks of faith in 7 EU countries at-risk religious sites
  • Coordinates organisation events, dialogues and exchanges; reach out to speakers, trainers/facilitators and participants.
  • Preparation of all dissemination and communication activities including, but not limited to stakeholders meetings and expert exchanges under the project.

Financial management of the project:

  • Ensures good and timely communication between all the partners, beneficiaries and builds collaboration with external parties
  • Ensures that project budget is followed and project implemented in compliance with donor and FCA policies, and in good coordination with the Project Finance and

Administration Officer

  • Promotes identification and synthesis of best practices and lessons learned for organizational sharing and learning

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in; social sciences, peace and conflict studies, safety and security management, political science or international relations, sociology or Islamic Studies or similar;
  • At least 5 years related professional experience in the field of peace-building, security and safety management, peace and security
  • Proven strong project management skills, and previous experience of implementing international collaboration projects
  • Previous experience in EU project management, preferably in Europe ISF-funded projects;
  • Previous experience capacity building; development of training modules and materials
  • Strong facilitation skills set and previous experience of training diverse groups;
  • Good understanding, and previous experience of working with multi-stakeholder setting in advancing security awareness and preparedness planning; community engagement and safe guarding
  • Proven experience in applying gender sensitivity and cultural sensitivity in trainings
  • Good communication and advocacy skills and fluent in utilisation of various, including online communication, channels
  • Strong understanding of Human Rights frameworks; especially Youth, Peace and Security and Women, Peace and security, Religious Freedom
  • Strong understanding of Islamic culture and heritage
  • Proven experience of working together with diverse set of religious communities; especially youth and women networks of faith
  • Fluency in oral and written English, knowledge of Arabic, French is an asset
  • Proven problem solving skills and strategic planning capability with creativity;
  • Good attention to detail and numerate;
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills;
  • Sound organizational skills and initiative to proactively manage work;
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure;
  • Ability and willingness to travel within Europe, and other NRTP programme countries

A fixed-term contract for this position will be made until 31.03.2023 with six months’ probation period, starting 1st of April, or as soon as possible. The compensation is based on FCA Compensation System and depends on prior work experience.
