Terre des hommes (Tdh) is the leading Swiss organisation for children’s aid. Active in around 40 countries, Tdh works with local and international partners to develop and implement field projects which improve the daily lives of over 4 million children and members of their communities, in the domains of health, protection and emergency relief. This engagement is financed by individual and institutional support, with administrative costs kept to a minimum.

The position directly reports to the Deputy Country Representative and supports Project Managers to achieve project outcomes. S/he will coordinate the entire project management component for the delegation. Specifically focused on leading the planning, coordinating implementation, monitoring, and reporting of all projects in collaboration with the PM’s and the field coordinators.

S/he will facilitate an enabling environment for effective & efficient project cycle management, and ensures through coordination that project implementation is timely, and targets and objectives are met. S/he leads the coordination with every department and actors for the smooth implementation of projects.


  • Coordinates oversight of all active Tdh projects in terms of targets Vs achievements, budget forecast vs burn rates, procurement and HR status. At any given time / moment, has a clear understanding of every projects’ status and inputs to project KPIs.
  • Directly coordinates with the project managers, technical coordinators and the field coordinators and responsible for the planning, kick off and continues project progress monitoring.
  • Coordinates with the technical units & MEAL teams to ensure quality project implementation, monitoring, community/ beneficiary participation, learning, and reporting.
  • Support the Technical coordinators and the field coordinators in assessing the context to identify vulnerable groups and communities, the level of service available for these communities, and the role the authorities, civil society, and aid actors play. Support in analyzing the feasibility of Tdh operations, risk and priorities. (Context/ situational analysis, needs assessments, problem analysis, risk assessments)
  • Support the Technical coordinators and the Grants team in identifying programming priorities, costing models, local partners, service delivery mechanisms for new projects, and programming models of actions. (Theory of change, log-frames, unit costing for activities, operations/ implementation costing, proposed staffing structure).
  • Ensures timely recruitment of the project manager and other operations/ project staff and coordinates the hiring of project specific technical & support staff members with the relevant teams within the delegation as required.
  • Support the project managers and follows up with the liaising officers to establish MoU with relevant line ministries,
  • Ensure project managers and the respective project teams are following clear and accurate work plans
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor effectiveness, efficiency, and quality


  • Education / Experience: University degree in relevant field and five-year relevant work experience
  • Language: Fluency in English required (spoken and written)
  • Proven project management experience and implementation of projects;
  • Prior experience working in emergency settings or insecure environments;
  • Effective in representation and liaison with external parties;
  • Demonstrated experience in capacity building and mentoring of national and international staff;
  • Personal qualities: Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well;


Expatriate contract under Swiss regulations 2’950 CHF (~2’550 €) < > 4’300 CHF (~3’700 €) net /month according to experience x 13 times, Vacancy: 25 days annual leaves local accommodation and transportation, Health insurance, accident and medical repatriation insurance, return flight.
