Chemonics seeks a chief of party and senior justice advisor (DCOP) for the USAID Indonesia Sustainable Environmental Governance Across Regions (SEGAR) Activity. The SEGAR Activity seeks to advance Indonesia’s own development goals of balancing biodiversity conservation and sustainable land use with inclusive economic and livelihoods development. The Chief of Party will lead the activity, serving as the main contact for USAID, Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MOEF), and other national-level actors. This position will be based in Jakarta, Indonesia. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Drive SEGAR’s direction and performance
  • Provide leadership in program management, including MEL, finance, grants, communications, operations, human resources, and technical oversight
  • Build and maintain relationships with USAID country counterparts and strategic partners
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to create and implement a long-term programmatic vision for SEGAR
  • Supervise staff, and adhere to all USAID and Chemonics policies and procedures
  • Oversee project work planning, performance management, and strategic communications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in NRM, international affairs, economics, environmental studies, public administration, public policy, business administration, or another relevant field
  • Minimum of 15 years of international development experience in managing projects of similar size and scope
  • Chief of party or equivalent experience successfully managing complex donor-funded programs in the environment, supply chain, or a related sector
  • Demonstrated skills in high-level strategic visioning and in managing complex activities involving coordination with multiple subcontractors under a unified project entity
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills, or experience in financial planning and management
  • Extensive experience working with senior-level government, private sector, civil society, and other donors
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptive management acumen
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
  • Experience working in Indonesia or the region
  • Fluency in English

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building the capacity of national and local governments, communities, and other local and regional entities
  • Experience working with USG funding
  • Technical expertise in biodiversity conservation, conservation governance, local governance, commodity supply chain management, certification schemes, or other related areas in the Indonesian context
  • Knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia
