Under the direct supervision of the Regional Health Assessment Programme (HAP) Coordinator based in Regional Office for Asia and Pacific, Bangkok, Thailand, the intern support day to day work within the unit and will work on the development and materialization of “Country HAP Profiles” project. It goes for a project of infographics’ presentation of dozens of countries in the region, with IOM HAP services to migrants and refugees. Intern will have opportunity to express him/herself in designing and analytical sets of skills, with the objective of preparation of migration health information related to IOM panel services to migrants/refugees.

Core Functions/Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  1. Collect, systematically organize and analyze existing data from IOM information systems sources within the HAP;

  2. Communicate with focal points in country operations in order to obtain specific information;

  3. Assist in design of “dashboard” infographics, for visualization of quantitative information;

  4. Assist in developing and production of statistical reporting profiles and fact sheets related to IOM HAP;

  5. Optional (preferable but not essential): Assist in establishing model of data transformation (scripting in R language) with an objective to prepare data sources for “dashboard” reporting (Microsoft Business Intelligence or Tableau)

  6. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Eligibility and Selection

The Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities. Interns must be between 20 and 36 years old and should have less than two years of relevant working experience. The Internship Programme is open to candidates of any nationality.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Either students approaching the end of their studies and preparing a thesis, or recently graduated; preferably completed undergraduate degree in any of following fields: International relations, Business, Administration, Management, Social Sciences, Statistic, health related studies, or similar;

  • Familiarity with computer programs, including MS Office programs; knowledge on data analysis applications a plus;

  • Prior knowledge or experience working on migration or health issues is considered as advantage;

  • Able to adapt to an international, multicultural, multilingual environment;

  • Good communication skills and able to work in a team;

  • Advanced English writing and communication skills.
