NGO Jobs / UN Jobs Vacancy

Country: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
Organization: Save the Children
Closing date: 31 Jan 2021

The role

Save the Children International is looking to hire a compliance lawyer on a fixed-term (9-12-months) basis. This is a really exciting opportunity to join Save the Children International's dynamic Legal Team and help Save the Children International to deliver its programming in some of the most challenging operating environments in the world.

The role holder will be part of SCI's core legal compliance team of four lawyers, responsible for leading on the development and management of legal, regulatory and compliance matters in relation to Save the Children International's international program operations in over 50 countries worldwide. This will include providing strategic legal advice to the wider organisation including to senior stakeholders, on fraud, terrorism financing, bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering, sanctions, export controls, data protection, modern slavery and other applicable regulatory regimes, as well as Charity Commission reporting on a range of serious incidents.

This interesting and rewarding role offers a great opportunity for anyone who is already in the sector or who is looking to transfer from either in-house or private practice roles.

The Person

For this role you will need to be a lawyer or barrister qualified in England and Wales or a common law jurisdiction ideally with at least two years + PQE experience. On a personal level you will be a team player with a strong interest in the international development/charitable sectors.

The salary offered is in line with the sector benchmark, and includes a company pension scheme and generous annual leave.

This role is available on a part-time (three or four day a week) basis. You will be based at home but the role will require some office based work as and when lockdown restrictions are lifted and SCI's London Office (situated behind Trafalgar Square) opens again in the second half of the year.

The Organisation

We employ approximately 17,000 people across the globe and work on the ground in over 120 countries to help children affected by crises, or those that need better healthcare, education and child protection. We also campaign and advocate at the highest levels to realise children's rights and ensure their voices are heard.

We are working towards three breakthroughs in how the world treats children by 2030:
* No child dies from preventable causes before their 5th birthday
* All children learn from a quality basic education and
* Violence against children is no longer tolerated.
