Duty Station: IOM Regional Office for Middle East and North Africa in Cairo, Egypt (RO), (Home-Based)

Type of Appointment: Internship for six months with possibility of extension

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Senior Regional Resource Management Officer (SRRMO) and the direct supervision of the Regional Information Technology Officer in close coordination with Resource Management team in RO and other Regional Thematic Specialists in RO Cairo. The successful candidate will support IM activities and other Resource Management Capacity Building initiatives.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Support user-test for developed websites, applications, and workflows.

  2. Support in organizing online manuals, documentations, instructions and advisories. Upload to share points sites or other relevant collaboration, file management and sharing tools.

  3. Assist in drafting the application user manual and guidelines.

  4. Support in organizing user training provision to IOM staff.

  5. Attend internal meetings and draft MoM and NFF.

  6. Support in preparing PowerPoint presentations and other communication tools.

  7. Support in Data collection and data entry whenever required and communicate with IOM missions’ in MENA to ensure required data and information are provided.

  8. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Learning elements:

Upon completion of the assignment, the intern will have:

  1. Learnt exposures to a range of data collection and automation online tools and implementation methodology in MENA region.

  2. Learnt new applications and ICT tools testing including SharePoint. Acquired knowledge of drafting and compiling user manual, users’ instructions and SOPs.

  3. Gained experience in supporting the coordination of systematic data collection at the regional level as well development of dynamic reporting solutions and visualization.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

· University degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field from an accredited academic institution;

· High school with Strong computer background including experience with Microsoft applications, Office 365, spreadsheets, word processing and Power Point.

Experience

· Strong computer background including experience with Microsoft applications and Office 365.

Languages

· Fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of Arabic, French is an advantage.
