Position Title: Migration Health Physician (2 Vacancies)

Duty Station: IOM Philippines Country Office (Manila)

Classification: National Officer Staff, Grade NO-A**

Type of Appointment: Fixed term, one year with possibility of extension

Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. Context:

Under the overall guidance of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Chief, Migration Health Officer, the successful candidate will carry out the following duties and responsibilities in relation to IOM Migrant Health Assessment Programme.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Support and assist the Chief Migration Health Officer in the management of the Migrant Health Assessment Programme in the Philippines;

  2. Read or reread all CXRs and other X-Rays films related to refugee/migrants health assessment program.

  3. Conduct migration medical examinations and generate the related documentation of migrants with quality assurance; treatment Tuberculosis, sexually transmitted infections and provide support to the HIV/AIDS treatment and counseling activities;

  4. Liaison with hospitals and laboratories involved in the health assessment programmes;

  5. Assist in medical procurement mechanism related to the migration health assessment programme if necessary;

  6. Participate in the collaboration with health authorities of migrant receiving countries;

  7. Ensure that all relevant data related to the heath assessment program are entered to MiMOSA and other related databases.

  8. Participate in data analysis related to the health assessment program for presentation and program planning in a standardized manner;

  9. Perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • University degree in Medicine preferably with minimum four years of experience in curative medicine and public health including health assessment programs.
  • Post-graduate degree in Radiology will be favourably considered.**

Experience

  • Valid professional license to practice medicine in the Philippines.

Skills

  • Computer literacy.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of a second official UN language is desirable.
