Position Overview

Reporting to the Member and Outreach Engagement Manager, the Community Engagement and Data Officer is an integral part of Humentum’s membership team, with a focus on facilitating and tracking member engagement through the maintenance and growth of our online community platform, resource curation, and data management.

This is a home-office based global position; Preference for candidates located in GMT - EST time zones.

Key Responsibilities

Community engagement – create and maintain a user-friendly listserv and resource library on Humentum’s online community platform powered by Higher Logic

o Maintain and support an active user roster, assisting with login issues, orienting new users, and periodically removing lapsed members

o Provide ongoing support to community volunteers

o Maintain and support the community platform, monitoring content to ensure it is kept up to date and that queries and feedback from members are responded to and captured in a timely and appropriate manner

o Monitor and administer community discussion boards and capture trends and insights

o Assist the Member and Outreach Engagement Manager to create and maintain a new library system, including organizing and curating resources

o Assist the Member and Outreach Engagement Manager to produce content for the platform that helps to build and strengthen community engagement

o Contribute to the continual improvement of Humentum’s Connect platform, its architecture, and engagement initiatives

Data management – help create a data-centric environment where the membership team can access accurate, easy to use data to manage member relationships and make good decisions

o Act as point person for the data integrity of the membership team

o Data maintenance and clean-up in Salesforce; this might include updating individual contact details or participating in special projects as required

o Work with account managers to assist member organizations in updating their organization’s information

o Maintain membership logos on website in partnership with Marketing team

o Work with members to close invoices from membership

o Assist with other data assignments as applicable, such as membership reporting, Salesforce dashboards, and membership engagement analytics


o Contribute as an active member of the Membership team, including answering general membership queries, along with other team members

o Participate in organizational meetings and other special staff initiatives

o Other duties as assigned consistent with the spirit and intent of the position

REQUIREMENTSQualifications and Desired Experience**

  • One to three years’ experience in communication platforms, some nonprofit experience preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage, communicate, and use data
  • Experience with Salesforce
  • Experience with online community platforms such as Higher Logic preferred
  • Strong writing and communications skills
  • Experience in a customer facing role

Job Related Information

This position is a remote, home-based position that works as part of a wider remote, global team. You will need to work independently and as well as part of the team to achieve team-based targets. You must possess both the ability and environment to work virtually: reliable connection to high speed internet, appropriate environment for leading and participating in virtual meetings with enabled video.
