Humanitarian Mediation Coordinator, Democratic Republic of Congo NRC is looking for a dynamic and committed Humanitarian Mediation Coordinator in DR Congo with a main role of implementing delegated Humanitarian Mediation project portfolio under the supervision of the Humanitarian Mediation Programme Manager. In early 2018, NRC in DR Congo launched a project dedicated to improve the protection of people in need through humanitarian mediation and facilitation of dialogue. The overall goal of the humanitarian mediation project is to improve the protection of people affected by the conflict DR Congo. Job description Line management for mediation project field staff; Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures; Contribute to Protection and Humanitarian Mediation strategy developments, and provide input on needs and gaps for NRC DRC; Manages and implement delegated portfolio of humanitarian mediation and protection initiatives (activities, budget and project documentation) as delegated from PM in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements, and ensure high technical quality; Provide regular progress reports to the Programme Manager and Area Manager; Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and assess new and better ways to assist and to protect; Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities; Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills; Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders; Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience from a senior level analyst and/or implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context Experience from working in humanitarian mediation project implementation in a humanitarian/recovery context Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile Fluency in French and to a lower extent English, both written and verbal Knowledge of the context in DRC Proven Field experience and technical expertise in Humanitarian Mediation Proven field experience in sensitive conflict analysis and protection analysis Knowledge of Swahili or other Congolese language is an asset Strong interpersonal skills, including capacities to mediate with non-government stakeholders Capacity to show impartiality and neutrality during facilitation process Personal qualities Analysing Handling insecure environments Managing resources to optimize results Empowering and building trust Managing performance and development Planning and delivering results We offer Commencement: March 2019 Duration: 12 months Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s general directions and free housing of moderate standard. Grade: 7 in the NRC grade structure (see attached) Duty station: Mobile status between Tanganyika, Kasai, Nord Kivu and Sud Kivu NRC’ areas of intervention. 80% travels Approved health certificate will be requested before contract start.
