Graphic Designer Consultancy Burkina Faso Terms of Reference Consultant Graphic Designer UNICEF Burkina Faso 1. BACKGROUND UNICEF works towards realization of the rights of children as prescribed in the Convention of the Rights of the Child. To achieve its goals, UNICEF Burkina Faso applies various programme strategies and interventions at various levels. Through these interventions there have been significant achievements and lessons learnt. Over the next 2 years, UNICEF will be focusing its support in the areas of Health, Nutrition, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Child Protection, Social Policy. There is an ongoing requirement for production of communication, advocacy and visibility materials that document key children's issues and ongoing responses in the field through high quality content packages, to support UNICEF Burkina Faso's communication, advocacy and visibility efforts with policy makers, media, donors, partners and the public at large. These high-quality content packages include design packages, advocacy toolkits, photo packages, human interest stories that document UNICEF’s work and programming. These high-quality content packages will be disseminated through different channels including website, social media platforms, external media networks, partner networks and donor reports. UNICEF would like to engage the services of a professional graphic designer who will be available to design high quality communication, advocacy and visibility materials. 2. SCOPE OF WORK Under the supervision of the communication specialist, he/she will be responsible for the following activities: Provide support in building a robust design capacity to UNICEF Burkina Faso. Provide design and branding support and implementation for UNICEF Burkina Faso programme campaigns Develop a branding strategy for all projects, in line with UNICEF branding guidelines. Conceptualize and design infographics/factographs to communicate key messages around specific topics. 4. DELIVERABLES • Contribute to meeting all design and project benchmarks and deadlines. • Complete all project responsibilities in a timely fashion. • Advise on specifications and liaise with printing companies Deliverables Target Deadline for deliverable Duration World’s Children’s Day 2019 marks the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child – Based on UNICEF global branding guidelines, produce appealing visuals for all the tools developed (poster, infographics to be shared on social media…) September 2019 30 days Layout templates for publications -Reports -Toolkits -Factsheets October 2019 (on-going deadline depending on the demand) 30 days Infographics/factographs Appealing Infographics and factographs are conceptualized and designed to communicate key messages around specific programmatic topics for use in reports, presentations, social media. October 2019 (on-going deadline depending on the demand) 50 days End of the year products Calendars Agendas Greeting Cards October 2019 30 days TOTAL NUMBER OF DAYS: 170 days • Work with Media Agencies, International Organizations, NGOs and UNICEF an asset; • Prior experience in Burkina Faso • Fluency in French and English required 6. PROCEDURES AND LOGISTICS • The Communications Specialist will regularly monitor the progress of the consultant’s work • Consultant will work from her/his private space • Consultant will use her/his computer and other equipment if necessary • Consultant will submit final report in an electronic form 7. CONDITIONS • The nature of the contract will be temporary. • The consultant is expected to conduct all work independently, in accordance with professional standards. • No travel required • Prior to commencing the contract, the individual consultant will be required to sign a Health Statement for consultants/individual contractors, and to document that he/she has appropriate health insurance, if applicable. 8. PAYMENT TERMS Payment is linked to receipt and satisfactory acceptance of deliverables. 9. START DATE 20/02/2019 END DATE 31/10/2019 NUMBER OF DAYS: 170 10.
