Communication Associate: PR and Outreach, Cairo Vacancy Type: National UN Youth Volunteer Posting Type: External Bureau: Arab States Contract Duration: 12 months with availability to extend. Opening for National Egyptian Only. Background Egypt was one of the first countries to sign an agreement with UNFPA to initiate population activities. The country office was established in 1972 and UNFPA has supported Egypt through eight 5-year country programmes ever since. The proposed programme is aligned with national development priorities outlined in Egypt's Vision 2030 and National Population Strategy; United Nations Partnership and Development Assistance Framework (2018-2022), and builds on recommendations of the ninth country programme evaluation. Duties and Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the Communication for Development Specialist, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: Assist in the implementation of planned UNFPA events and field visits; Support the implementation of the different advocacy campaigns and coordination with media production companies; Support maintaining smooth communication with media representatives; Assist in producing advocacy materials such as videos, visibility materials and publications; Monitor UNFPA presence in the media and draft weekly press review. Results/Expected Outputs: Effective implementation of UNFPA planned advocacy campaigns; Effective implementation of UNFPA planned events and field visits; Progressive documentation and building of photography and videography library documenting UNFPA work in Egypt; Ensure UNFPA events, functions and campaigns are well covered by media; Ensure production of visibility materials and publications meet UNFPA requirements and are consistent with UNFPA guidelines. The development of capacity through coaching, mentoring and formal on-the-job training, when working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-) governmental counter-parts, including Implementing Partners (IPs); Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment; A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development dur-ing the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed.
