Plan’s Programme Excellence Team facilitates global technical leadership for all of Plan’s programme work and it’s rights-based programme and influence approach. Plan’s global advisors and technical leads working across various networks play a critical role to provide thought leadership on its areas of global distinctiveness. They produce regularly technical documents such as guidance, but also think pieces or discussion papers that require professional copy editing to keep language simple. To enable Global technical leads and Advisors and other key technical experts to produce copy-edited, plain English documents we are seeking for a consultant experienced in copy-editing/writing.

Purpose of the Consultancy:

  • To support Plan’s technical Leads and other key technical experts to produce high quality documentation by offering

    • Copy-editing services

    • Occasionally services to independently write executive summaries or similar based on longer research/technical writing provided

Time Requirements:

  • Document production of the team requires currently an estimated 15 h of editing time per month which might be exceeded during peak times of production


  • Copy-edit documentation received

  • Query writers to resolve content questions around documents

  • Occasionally write summaries or short reports based on longer documentation received

Profile for the Consultant

  • Master in English language, creative writing, applied Journalism or comparable communication science

  • Proven experience in writing about development or child rights issues

  • Excellent writing skills, and the ability to identify and sharpen key messaging

  • Excellent analytical skills and critical thinking

Duration of the Consultancy

November 2017 – October 2018, potentially renewable
