Finance Manager

Duty station: Gaziantep, Turkey

Length of Contract: 6 Months

Al Ameen, short for Al-Ameen for Humanitarian Support is a non-profit, non-governmental organization working throughout Syria and the border regions. Al-Ameen registered in Turkey in 2015 and currently works in four sectors, including Education, Medical, WASH, and Food Security and Livelihoods. Al-Ameen has not only focused on managing development projects, but also adds an advocacy component to empower Syrian civil society and local governance to all its projects. We expect our staff at Al-Ameen to be proactive, hard workers and team players.

Description of Position

The Finance Manager (FM) will manage Al-Ameen’s Finance Unit and insure all systems are working effectively and efficiently. The FM will be responsible for the following;

Organizational Responsibilities

  • The FM will prepare primary and secondary plans with the Finance Unit that would help achieve the objectives of the organization;
  • The FM will be responsible for following up on plan implementation
  • The FM will coordinate with Logistics concerning procurement and warehouse finances;
  • The FM will conduct proper training for Finance Unit staff to build their capacity with necessary skills and expertise.
  • The FM will enhance the procedures of the Finance Unit, with CEO, according to lessons learned and gaps made visible;
  • The FM will propose the annual budget of Al-Ameen and the possible financial limits;
  • The FM will contribute to the financial strategy of Al-Ameen;
  • The FM will review, approve, and issue outlay/expenditure orders that do not exceed the amount of 500 USD;
  • The FM will conduct periodic inventory of the treasury in collaboration with the cashier;
  • The FM will maintain, save, and control all the financial documents and books, as well as follow up on the validity of financial documentation;
  • The FM will maintain copies of all the financial liabilities’ documents for or against the Organization;
  • The FM will submit fortnightly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual reports to the executive director; Programs

  • The FM will prepare financial reports concerning projects being implemented by Al-Ameen

  • The FM will prepare internal and external auditing for the projects;

  • The FM will monitor and provide periodical evaluation of the performance of officers, accountants and cashier

  • The FM will check and approve project proposal budgets, insuring the requests are in line with organization needs

  • The FM will work with Monitoring and Evaluation team to collect all financial documentation needed for auditing;

  • The FM will meet with Donors, when requested, and be able to describe Al-Ameen’s Financial Systems;

  • The FM will oversee the production of final reports, after the completion of project implementation


The potential FM must meet the following qualifications;

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Accounting, or Finance
  • At least four years of experience in finance management, one of which is in the non-profit sector; more experience of finance in the non-profit sector is highly desired
  • Strong experience in Quickbooks, Microsoft Excel, and other financial programs
  • Strong management and organization skills
  • Experience with different donor requirements
