We are seeking a proactive, driven and experienced Knowledge Management and Learning Officer to join our EU Partnership Management Unit, based in Brussels.

Our UK and Global Programmes department delivers humanitarian and development programmes, builds partnerships with institutional donors – including governments, multi-laterals and trusts – and drives lasting change. In this role you will lead on the knowledge management and learning for the EU Account. You will strengthen Save the Children’s partnership with the EU, in order to maximise funding and influence to deliver our shared aims for children. You will increase accountability, sharing of good practices and learning between account members resulting in improved intelligence and sharing of key developments within the EU. You will also:

  • Provide effective support to Members from inception stage to contract liquidation and audit resulting in higher success rates, quality reporting, minimal levels of disallowances and clear recognition from the EU of professional delivery
  • Provide Helpdesk support services, sharing updates and analysis to help Members of the EU Account during project development, implementation and closure
  • Support the preparation of materials and facilitation of regular Save the Children Account meetings
  • Provide support to the capacity building and training modules (proposal writing and awards management, compliance)
  • Support the implementation, monitoring and reporting of the Account’s Annual Work Plan (both DEVCO/NEAR and ECHO). To be successful you will be self driven, pro-active and motivated by Save the Children’s work. You will be educated to degree level in a relevant area, with demonstrable work experience within EU funding. With strong knowledge of the EU at Brussels level, regional and country levels, you will also have:

  • Experience with donor fundraising, engagement and contract negotiations and knowledge of the EU (ECHO – DEVCO/NEAR) regulations and procedures related to grant contracts

  • An understanding of contemporary issues related to humanitarian and development aid funding

  • Experience with project cycle management and rules and regulations – knowledge of EU rules and procedures related to grant contracts

  • An understanding of contemporary issues related to humanitarian and development aid funding and knowledge of the EU institutions in Brussels

  • The ability to deal with competing demands, work well under pressure and maintain fruitful collaboration with a large range of partners.

The successful candidate must be willing and have the ability to travel. Other relevant European language skills such as Spanish or French would be an advantage.
