Join one of the foremost humanitarian organizations in the world in a 12 month (renewable) core management role contributing to the overall management of the South Africa mission.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Deputy Head of Mission (Deputy HoM) together with the Coordination (primarily the HOM and Medical Coordinator) and Project managers is leading on the national advocacy vision, strategy and management within the South Africa mission. This position requires extensive public health, public policy and advocacy knowledge. The successful candidate will be a proven strategist who will have the ability to develop innovative strategies and be able to represent the organization and its values at the highest level within South Africa.

Summary of the post:

· The Deputy HOM will represent MSF at a national (or other) level when required

· The Deputy HOM is responsible for the development of a national advocacy and communication plan by supporting the projects to develop their specific advocacy strategies and plans. The South African mission strategies largely focus on advocating for expanded access to quality DR/TB and HIV care and treatment (including for mobile populations), Sexual Violence care and treatment, HRH, SHR for learners in schools and access to medicines issues such as Stock Outs (via Stop Stock Outs Project).

Required skills, attributes and experience:

The successful candidate will have:

Education:

· Masters Degree, ideally in Public Health / Public Policy (required) , Postgraduate diploma/certificate in Project Management (added advantage)

Experience:

· 3-5 Years Advocacy experience (communications experience an added advantage)

· Familiarity in South African Health Care systems and networks , advanced knowledge in health related topics

· Experience in related field with MSF or other NGOs in developing countries.

Computer Literacy:

· Computer literacy (Microsoft Office suite programs: word, excel, PowerPoint, internet and social media)

Required Languages

· Fluent written and spoken English, other African language spoken in South Africa (added advantage)

Required Attributes

· Must be highly autonomous and self-driven

· An understanding of and commitment to the aims and values of MSF, associative minded, frequent travels nationally and to rural/remote areas.

Salary and terms of employment

· Salary package comparable to other non-profit organizations; 100% medical aid; 13th cheque; South African citizen or valid south African work permit required
