We are looking for an experienced candidate to fill the role of IM Specialist for DRC in Myanmar.

In Myanmar, DRC has been present since 2009, as both DRC and since June 2012 broadened its presence via the Danish Demining Group (DDG) - DRC’s division for Mine Action.

DRC is currently engaged in responses in Rakhine, Kachin, Kayah and Northern Shan States.
DRC's response is targeting displaced and displacement affected communities and other vulnerable communities in some of the most deprived areas of Myanmar. Key activities include protection (including Child Protection, GBV and Protection Monitoring), CCCM, WASH, Livelihoods, shelter and mine action.

DRC/DDG Myanmar currently employs over 280 national, 24 international staff and operates from six operational offices. DRC’s main office is in Yangon; the main donors of DRC in Myanmar include ECHO, OFDA, UNICEF, UNHCR, DANIDA, SDC, DFAT, LIFT, USAID, DFID, EC and private donors.

About the job

The growing complexity of the DRC operating environment in Myanmar makes the cross-functional Program Quality and Information Management tasks increasingly important to be able to ensure the quality of DRC’s programming, pull together comprehensive information and analysis to support program design, and develop comprehensive MEAL and IM systems to support operational and strategic decision making.

The overall objective of the IM Specialist will be to develop an online IM system and related processes that maintain and organize DRC Myanmar activities data and provide support in reporting, project tracking and data analysis in order to support quality programming and accountability towards beneficiaries, donors and other stakeholders.

Specific duties and responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Information Management

  • Design/develop, test, maintain, support and improve the IM system that maintains and organizes DRC Maynamr activities data and provides support in reporting, project tracking and data analysis
  • Build the capacity of DRC staff in terms of system use (including basic analysis) through on-going support and training
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support field staff
  • Develop database security measures to safeguard information against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure
  • Support the programme team in recruit, capacity build and train IM staff
  • Process data and disseminate information easily disaggregated for use in relevant programme materials. (i.e. briefings, reports)

Protection Information Management

  • Support the protection team in developing methodologies for data collection, processing and analysis for both qualitative and quantitative data
  • Support the Protection Team in the roll out of the CPIMS + for case management
  • Be the focal point for the mantainance of the protection monitoring platform (i.e trouble shooting, training to staff, data analysis etc)

  • Improve data collection-process-storing and analysis systems in the protection team in line with the coutry protection strategy

Knowledge management and learning

  • Reflecting on programming and capturing good practice and methodology achieving success in the context
  • Participate in project Kick-off meetings, Quarterly Review meetings and Close-out meetings in order to highlight cross-project components aimed at replicating good practices and strengthening synergies between projects or programmes.


  • Liaise with other actors on data, share information and support the coordination processes on information and baseline data

Essential skills and experience

  • Master’s degree in development economics, statistics, research methods, or a similar field;
  • Minimum 3 years of technical experience in Information management;
  • Excell knowledge of KoboCollect, ODK, QGIS, SPSS, PowerBI and Advanced Excel (essential)
  • Expertise in the administration of Office 365, and SharePoint
  • Good understanding and experience of MEAL processes
  • Exceptional command (written and spoken) of English;
  • Effective verbal and written communication, multi-tasking, organizational, and prioritization skills are necessary.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience with CMPIS + and GBV IMS preferred
  • Experience using database platforms such as PostgreSQL, SQL server, or MySQL as well as using Wavemaker (or equivalent) to develop web-based applications preferred

We offer

DRC will offer the successful applicant a 12 month contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance.
