NGO Jobs / UN Jobs Vacancy

Organization: Palladium International
Country: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
Closing date: 13 May 2018

Palladium is a global leader in the design, development and delivery of Positive Impact - the intentional creation of enduring social and economic value. We work with foundations, investors, governments, corporations, communities and civil society to formulate strategies and implement solutions that generate lasting social, environmental and financial benefits.

For the past 50 years, we have been making Positive Impact possible. With a team of more than 2,500 employees operating in 90 plus countries and a global network of more than 35,000 technical experts, Palladium has improved - and is committed to continuing to improve - economies, societies and most importantly, people's lives.

Palladium is a child-safe organisation, and screens applicants for suitability to work with children. We also provide equal employment to all participants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, veteran or marital status. Palladium International provides security advice, deployments, administrative, and other support services to the UK Stabilisation Unit (SU). The SU is a cross-government unit supporting UK government efforts to tackle instability overseas. It is located in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, King Charles Street, London SW1, which would be the principal place of work for this role. See for more information on the SU. This is the latest in a series of recruitments to this Standby Roster. We frequently draw people from it. We therefore wish to add a significant number of people to the roster.

We call on members of the standby roster as and when the need arises. We are looking for highly able administrators who are prepared to be security cleared in advance of potential need, and who if contracted will be able to work in a busy and responsive team at the heart of government. Periods of work could range from a few weeks to, potentially, a permanent role. Roles are usually UK-based, working from the FCO. There is no guarantee that membership of the roster will result in the offer of work. But membership of the roster makes a work offer more likely because security clearance, which can take several months, has already been obtained.

The work involves supporting the SU as it serves the rest of Government (particularly DFID, MOD, FCO) in its efforts to tackle instability overseas. Roles are likely to be one or more of the following:

  • Assisting with the contracting and deployment of Deployable Civilian Experts to a variety of conflict-related roles either in the UK or overseas, particularly in countries in conflict
  • Assisting with the maintenance of a database of Deployable Civilian Experts
  • Assisting with financial administration
  • Other administrative support related to the above

Pay depends on length and type of contract but for full-time roles would be at least £26,250 per year. Short-term tasks sometimes attract higher rates. * Degree level education or substantial relevant experience

  • Proven ability in accurate, high quality administration

  • Good communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships

  • Demonstrable organisation and time management skills, and ability to work under pressure

  • Experience or a previous career in relevant work such as conflict-related, humanitarian or government is desirable but not essential. Application process:

Please register as a candidate and upload your up-to-date CV with a covering letter outlining how you meet the requirements for this role by Sunday 13th May 2018. Please note that we will not be able to consider an application without a cover letter. Due to the high volume of applications we receive, only short-listed candidates will be contacted.

Please DO NOT apply unless you have at least 5 years' continuous UK residency (with the exception of short-term travel up to 90 days) as otherwise we are unable to security clear you for this role.

All applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
