We are looking for an experienced and proactive individual to join us as Programme Manager. You will be the focal point for Country Office (CO) and SCUK interaction and lead on the timely creation of proposals, reports and contracts in support of quality delivering of the end to end award cycle.

Our UK and Global Programmes department delivers humanitarian and development programmes, builds partnerships with institutional donors – including governments, multi-laterals and trusts – and drives lasting change. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.

As Programme Manager you will contribute to the develop of the overall portfolio in line with Country Strategic Plans (CSPs), working closely with the Partnership Development and New Business Teams and with the Head of Team. You will also develop and maintain key donor relationships for selected countries and serve as key donor focal point for HQ level SCUK home donors on specific country portfolios. In addition you will:

  • Monitor and maintain oversight of all SCUK donor projects (including institutional and non-institutional) and related risks
  • Be responsible for the quality assurance and negotiation of contracts with donors
  • Provide capacity building for country office staff
  • Build strong and effective relationships with key staff and counterparts in SCI country offices
  • Develop a strong knowledge base of in-country context and current issues in relation to delivery and operating platform.

To be successful you will have previous field experience working in one or more countries from the region and understanding of context and operating environment issues and strong relationship development skills, particularly at a distance. Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or with relevant experience, you will also have a high degree of flexibility and adaptability in order to respond to changing needs and effectively address. In addition you will have:

  • Experience working with complex programmes (consortium, multi-country)
  • Extensive experience working with institutional donors such as DEC, DFID, EC, ECHO, UNICEF etc
  • Excellent organisation skills and good attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English
  • Experience in project and grant/contract management with knowledge of institutional donor compliance requirements.
