Background:

The Communication Section in UNICEF Jordan Country Office aims at contributing to supporting the country programme in achieving results for children by putting the rights and wellbeing of the most disadvantaged children at the heart of the political, social, and economic agendas advocating for shifts in public policy, fueling social engagement, and increasing resources and actions for children.

OBJECTIVE:

The specific objectives of the consultancy are:

  • To produce at least 4 mobile phone videos (45 seconds) for @UNICEFJordan SNS every month
  • To produce at least 30 photos profiles every month of children / youth / service provider / community member / parents / guardians / UNICEF staff / public advocacy events / activities with complete captions
  • To support production of at least at least 30 infographics and banners every month in English and Arabic on data and key messages supporting advocacy for vulnerable children in Jordan
  • Write at least 10 human interest stories
  • Recommend at least 2 new online/offline tools every month towards improving content quality and reach of UNCIEF Jordan’s website and social media platforms
  • Produce and disseminate social media analytical reports every month

DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNMENT:

This consultancy is office based in Amman with weekly travels to UNCIEF programme sites across the Kingdom. During this assignment, the consultant will report to the Communication Officer.

KEY DELIVERABLES and Timeframe:

  • Deliverable 1: At least 4 mobile phone videos (45 seconds) in English and Arabic for @UNICEFJordan SNS every month
  • Deliverable 2: At least 30 photos profiles every month of children / youth / service provider / community member / parents / guardians / UNICEF staff / public advocacy events / activities in English and Arabic with complete captions
  • Deliverable 3: At least 30 infographics and banners every month in English and Arabic on data and key messages supporting advocacy for vulnerable children in Jordan
  • Deliverable 4: At least 2 new online/offline tools recommended every month towards improving content quality and reach of UNCIEF Jordan's website and social media platforms
  • Deliverable 5: 10 human interest stories by the end of the consultancy period
  • Deliverable 6: Produce and disseminate social media analytical reports every month

  • 120 infographics and banners every month in English and Arabic on data and key messages supporting advocacy for vulnerable children in Jordan;
  • 10 new online/offline tools recommended every month towards improving content quality and reach of UNICEF Jordan's website and social media platforms;
  • 4 human interest stories

48 weeks from the starting date/ every two months

  • 40 mobile phone videos (45 seconds);
  • 200 photos profiles of children / youth / service provider / community member / parents / guardians / UNICEF staff / public advocacy events / activities;
  • 200 infographics and banners every month in English and Arabic on data and key messages supporting advocacy for vulnerable children in Jordan;
  • 20 new online/offline tools recommended every month towards improving content quality and reach of UNICEF Jordan's website and social media platforms;
  • 10 human interest stories

Reporting requirements:

Monthly written reports to be provided to the supervisor of the post.

Travel Consideration:Kindly note that the consultant will be traveling on a regular basis, including weekly missions to UNICEF supported centers/activities/events in host communities and Syrian refugee camps in Jordan, which will be covered by UNICEF (mission).

Other than that, for individual contractors and consultants, all travel arrangements to commence the assignment, including insurance and visas, will be managed and paid by the individual. Therefore, expected travel costs must be included as a budget item in the financial proposal. Should mission travel be required, UNICEF will manage and pay for travel via Travel Authorization. However, this will be subject to the following prerequisites: Medical Clearance, Security Clearance through the Travel Request Information Process (TRIP) system, the Basic and Advanced Security in the Field Trainings, Travel Visa, and liability waiver. Trip prerequisites will be met at the expense of the consultant.

Travel cost shall be calculated based on economy class travel, regardless of the length of travel. Costs for accommodation, meals and incidentals shall not exceed applicable daily subsistence allowance (DSA) rates, as promulgated by the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC at http://icsc.un.org). The consultant must travel on UNICEF approved airlines.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have:Education: University degree in journalism, media and/or communications, international relations or related discipline is required. Advanced degree is desirable.Working experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in journalism and/or communications, preferably with international experience;
  • Experience in producing videos and animations for social media platforms [Samples to be attached with proposal]
  • Proven experience as a photographer with captioning skills [Samples to be attached with proposal]
  • Proven experience in graphics designing and layout
  • Excellent communications and writing skills (English) and Arabic (spoken).

Technical knowledge:

  • Deep understanding of social media and journalism.
  • Familiarity with both printed and electronic media and demonstrated video production skills, photography and editing.
  • Knowledge of refugee issues and humanitarian settings.

Languages: Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken) is a must.
