DESCRIPTION

The HALO Trust is seeking a Fundraising Officer to work in its office in Salisbury (United Kingdom) to support the organisation’s major gifts program.

The HALO Trust employs over 7,800 people in 23 countries and territories to create safe and secure environments in war torn communities by clearing landmines, managing stockpiles of weapons and destroying unexploded ordnance.

Overview

The HALO Trust and The HALO Trust (USA) have a development team that comprises fundraisers and communications staff based in the United Kingdom and the United States. The Fundraising Officer supports the work of the fundraising team, focusing on raising major gifts and grants from foundations, corporations and individuals to support the life-saving work of HALO’s overseas operations.

This role requires a resourceful and efficient team player who excels at prioritising and will provide support to HALO’s fundraisers. The individual should have at least 2 years’ experience of fundraising in the non-profit sector, ideally in proposal writing and/or prospect research.

Flexible working will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect Identification: proactively and independently identify potential sources of major gifts
  • Prospect research: conduct research on individuals, corporations, and foundations to inform HALO’s approach to each prospect
  • Proposal development and writing: work with the fundraising team and HALO’s programs to produce funding applications to deadlines
  • Generate routine donor correspondence
  • Work with overseas programs to collect material for reporting and communication with donors
  • Manage donor records and correspondence in Salesforce
  • Assist with event planning and organisation
  • Work closely with colleagues in the USA, UK and overseas programs as part of a distributed team to provide support to global fundraising efforts.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent research skills; the ability to identify relevant facts and to summarise them
  • Proven ability to draft accurate correspondence for a variety of audiences, ideally combined with experience of writing fundraising applications to private donor prospects
  • Proactive and self-motivated with good planning skills
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and work to deadlines
  • Ability to take direction and to work within a busy team
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment with a strong work ethic
  • Some Salesforce or other fundraising CRM experience is desirable.
