About the Job: The Head of Communications will report to the Country Director and be responsible for developing communication content is high in quality, engaging, and powerful, in support of DKT’s mission. Public-education projects and brand advertising alike fall within the scope. The successful candidate will be expected to create content and employ both traditional and new (digital) media for maximum impact.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Developing messaging and delivery strategies for multiple target audiences.
  • Managing DKT’s online social-media presence (esp. Facebook pages of its Lydia http://ift.tt/2zH1WH4 and Kiss http://ift.tt/2zG24a1 brands), its thiloyarmay.org website, and developing other new digital platforms whenever appropriate.
  • Managing collaboration with marketing-agency partners, for creative development and production.
  • Directing and reviewing the work of writers, editors, graphic designers and video-production specialists, with an eye to creating fun, easy-to-understand and scientifically accurate deliverables.
  • Overseeing design of marketing collateral, including brochures, product packaging, and detailing materials.

Candidates from non-profit development backgrounds and media-marketing backgrounds are both welcome to apply.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in communications, media or related field.
  • 7 years’ experience in communications or public relations, in an international setting.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in public health (especially women’s health) and poverty alleviation. Candidates should be strongly interested in human sexuality and sexual health, and unembarrassed by the topic.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with online media, online advertising and related metrics.
  • Excellent English writing and editing skills.
  • Candidates possessing Burmese language skills, spoken and written, will be preferred.
  • Creative flair and an eye for aesthetic design (familiarity with PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator, etc. a bonus).
  • Sense of humor and willingness to take risks ... Enjoys working in a fun, dynamic atmosphere.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially MS Word and PowerPoint.

Compensation: Based on qualifications and experience.
