The Global Apprenticeship Network (GAN) was established in 2013 in response to the global youth unemployment crisis and the need for business to ensure skills for the future. The GAN is an international coalition of committed companies, international organizations and employers’ federations that are dedicated to work- readiness programs with the ultimate goal of creating job opportunities for youth and a skills base that matches labour demand. The GAN depends on key strategic partnerships, e.g. EU, G20/B20, UN Global Compact, WEF, World Bank, etc. to deliver on its mandate.

GAN National Networks (GNNs) are the platform, on the ground, which allows the GAN to achieve concrete results. The GNNs essential role is to quantify commitments and root the GAN concepts within the national context – catering to the distinct economic, cultural and institutional needs present at the national and local level. Currently, there are nine GNNs and more GNNs will be launched in 2018. There is a need to increase resources, partnerships and assist the GNNs to sustain these networks. The Head will work closely with the Executive Director on strategic partnerships both at HQ and for GNNs. Reporting to the Executive Director, he/she will manage a comprehensive array of programs and services which includes event management and building partnerships with the ultimate goal of increasing resources.

Responsibilities on overall development and management of programs and strategic partnerships for the GNNs

· Build and maintain strong relationships with private and public sectors clients; and increase the number of strategic partners to enhance delivery and resources

· Set up donor and/or media events where HNWIs, foundations, organizations can understand and eventually contribute to the GAN

· Work alongside employer federations, ILO regional offices (Hubs) and companies to develop, implement and obtain resources to sustain these networks.

· Oversee various donor proposals and possible new funding streams, i.e. social enterprise, for profit arm, crowd funding

· Maintain and develop new partnerships with organizations, e.g. World Bank, CNN, Google, Think Tanks

· Represent the GAN at international meetings, industry-group conferences, professional associations, and other public and private venues

· Market and promote the GAN through providing thought leadership around specific topics around public-private partnerships and emerging practice areas

· Prepare toolkits and guides on outreach and resource mobilization


· An advanced degree in political science, international affairs, communications or other relevant field

· At least 10 years of relevant work experience at a senior level in international program management.

· Exposure to multi-cultural environments and ability to adapt to different national contexts.

· A proven track record on increasing resources and building private-public partnerships

· Outstanding marketing, communication and interpersonal skills

· Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in organizational settings

· Transparent, imagination, creativity and excellent social media skills

· Remain focused in the face of pressure, delivers against timelines, not intimidated by tasks/time limitation

· Language skills: excellent written and spoken English and another language either Spanish, Arabic or French
