Temporary Officer, Midwest Region

The Officer (Associate level) will be responsible for office administration for the Midwest Regional office, Midwest special event planning for UNICEF’s Chicago Humanitarian Awards Luncheon in November 2017; coordinating an office move; and acting as a liaison with the national office in New York.

This full-time temporary assignment is for approximately 18 weeks starting in July 2017.

Key Responsibilities/Outcomes: (include but are not limited to):

(1) SPECIAL EVENTS

The Officer will help to manage plans for the upcoming UNICEF Chicago Humanitarian Awards Luncheon on Friday, November 3, 2017. This event typically attracts over 400 guests and serves as a “friend-raiser” for UNICEF USA. The Officer will coordinate with outside vendors such as hotel catering management, photographers, lighting and sound technicians, d├ęcor vendors, among others. The Officer will also manage event committees consisting of high-level donors and Board Members and communicates with them on a regular basis. He/she will manage the budget of revenue and expenses for the Luncheon, ensuring the event stays within budget for expenses and meets its target fundraising goal.

(2) OFFICE ADMINISTRATION

The Officer will perform administrative tasks in the Chicago office including copying, mailing, and filing. In addition, the Officer is responsible for processing donor gifts, both individual gifts and special events. Other duties include maintaining donor information in the database as needed and donor research, and working with the Midwest Regional Managing Director to adhere to the Regional expense budget.

(3) OFFICE MOVE

The Officer will coordinate an office move from the current space to a new space in October 2017. He/she will liaise with current building management, new building management (if needed), the Midwest Regional Managing Director, and Administration staff at headquarters.

(4) MAJOR DONOR STEWARDSHIP

The Officer will support Regional Managing Director, Major Gift Officer and Development Officer in engaging and stewarding the region’s major donors as the team works to raise $4 million for UNICEF’s work for children.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years relevant experience

Must possess strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, creativity, and flexibility in high-stress situations, the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and the willingness to assist with all tasks needed to ensure the success of an event

Innovation, creativity and the ability to make decisions are fundamental to the success of this position

Strong interpersonal, time management, and oral and written communication skills are essential

Must be computer literate

Must demonstrate UNICEF USA Core Values: Trust, Respect, Accountability, Innovation, Teamwork, and Service

Must possess current and valid US Work Authorization and be eligible to work for any US employer without sponsorship.
