Palladium is searching for a Director, Economic Growth to join our EMEA Regional Business Partnership as a key member of our team moving into a portfolio structure and combining the International Development and Management Consultancy elements of the business within the practice area.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a strategic manager looking to make their mark in the Positive Impact space. The Economic Practice currently has a significant portfolio and pipeline, with great scope for expansion in multiple markets. The primary responsibilities of the Director, Economic Practice are to:

  • Oversee implementation of a large portfolio of economic growth assignments
  • Secure new business with government, donor and private sector clients
  • Provide technical expertise and thought leadership
  • Manage an ambitious team
  • Lead and manage the team through change blending the cultures from Consulting and International Development businesses
  • Oversee the team to deliver against targets
  • Build a practice bridging the private sector and governments in the developing world,
  • Secure new business within consulting
  • Assume technical accountability across projects both direct and indirect
  • Deliver a financial return
  • Ensure compliance and delivery in line with client expectations
  • Focus on quality and demonstrate a clear focus on thought leadership and Positive Impact
  • Speak at conferences, blog , write articles and promote the business as appropriate

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred in International Development, Economics or related field.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience of working in the international development sector- EMEA, UK, Middle East and Africa
  • Technical competence in trade, prosperity and economic growth
  • Business development and robust commercial acumen
  • Proven track record of effective people management, including: leading, developing, coaching, building, mentoring, motivating, evaluating and supporting teams.
  • Listening, learning, empowering and result-orientated leadership style and management practice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively, to negotiate and influence others.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients, focusing on impact and results.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Project management and facilitation skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work overseas, spending a minimum of eight weeks per year in developing countries and other locations.
