Senior Managers play a critical role in supporting and leading Palladium projects, providing technical leadership, program and commercial management, strong client relationship management and influencing team and corporate strategy.

The primary responsibilities of the Senior Manager, Economic Growth, include:

  • Serve as Project Director on one or two of our major programmes
  • Play a leading role in new business development, strategic partnerships, new clients and bid development
  • Provide technical leadership in specific sectors for the design, planning and delivery of projects, as well as project teams and more widely within the organisation
  • Lead and participate in technical assignments, providing technical input in Palladium projects and provide sector expertise

    • Identify, build and maintain relationships with consultants and partners who can provide technical expertise

    Business Development:

  • Support the strategic approach to business development through coordination of research on issues, countries, clients, partners and competitors and market intelligence gathering

  • Manage the development of new and maintenance of existing client relationships through interactions with clients at a technical level during the business development cycle

    • Manage partner and team selection and pre-bid negotiations
  • Manage the preparation of responses to client requests for clarifications of proposals and contract negotiations

    Project Management:

    Act as Project Director on assigned projects:

  • For assigned portfolio projects, lead the relationship with clients and other project stakeholders to plan, implement, review and report on projects as needed and requested

  • Lead and coordinate project work planning, budgeting, progress and financial reporting, and technical support to projects at all stages

    • Identify project performance and contract issues and support their timely resolution
  • Keep abreast of political, social, economic and security developments in project countries and regions

Minimum education and experience required:

  • Master degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 12 years relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of government client project management and business development experience that includes management of one or more projects including experience in start-up and closeout
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in working in a developing country or in a project based environment
  • Experience contributing to or managing at least 4 successful major bids (including each of or a combination of structuring bid financials, team selection, drafting technical response and partner negotiations)

    Key competencies and professional expertise required:

  • Proven technical excellence in the field

    • Strong technical writing skills
  • Formal Project Management training and experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Sound business development and Client Relationship Management skills
  • People management skills

  • Financial acumen and the ability to interpret and analyse financial reports

  • Sound problem solving and decision making skills

  • Willingness to travel and work abroad a minimum of eight weeks per year in developing countries and elsewhere

    Technical expertise and experience in Economic growth, including one or more of:

  • Market-based approaches, including M4P, ideally in social as well as economic sectors

  • Challenge Funds

  • Impact Investing (including, but not limited to, social & development impact bonds)

  • Financial Institutions and Funds Management

  • Aid for Trade

  • Payment for Results models

  • DCED Standard for Results Measurement
