Badael is a Syrian non-governmental organization committed to strengthening civil society groups (CSG’s) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Syria that are active or want to become active in the promotion of non-violence and in the implementation of activities to reduce the severity of violence, to break its cycle, to respond to the conflict, and to prepare for the process of post-conflict peace-building.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Finance and Administration Officers, the Finance and Administration Intern will be responsible for assisting and supporting the work of both officers. The Intern will work closely with the Finance and Administration Officers to manage records, file invoices, prepare monthly payroll, record important data, screen applicants for new positions and generally assist both officers in all their daily tasks. Therefore, the right candidate should hold a university degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics, preferably with previous experience in a similar position and knowledge of accounting software, such as Quick Books**.** S/he should also have excellent communications skills both verbally and written in English and Arabic.

This is an unpaid internship that will last approximately 12 weeks.

Finance Functions:

· Supporting the process of entering all financial transactions in relevant forms ensuring they are

in order; manage records, file invoices, receipts, delivery orders and contracts

· Assist the finance officer in keeping track of expenditures

· Assist in photocopy of vouchers

· Assist in preparing monthly payroll.

· Assist in archiving financial documents; manage records, file invoices, receipts.

· Ensure transactions are properly recorded and entered into the computerized system.

· Prepare inventory statement for Badael equipment.

· Support communication with the Turkish accountant and translate from English to Turkish when needed.

· Assist and manage data entry tasks.

· Support the finance officer to ensure that occurring expenditures correspond to budget lines.

· Assist the finance officer to follow-up and conduct payments on time.

· Perform other duties that fall within the competency and responsibility of the position.

Administrative Functions:

· Assist in updating of HR data, filing of office documents and updating/maintaining databases.

· Archive documents related to staff attendance and staff leaves records.

· Support administration officer to post job advertisements, screening applications and arranging interviews. Support the administration officer to supervise logistical services for Badael team in Turkey by organizing meetings and reservations.

· Aid administration officer to manage the maintenance, buying transactions, and bills payment to Istanbul office.


· Holds or currently enrolled in BSc in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.

· Knowledge in accountancy software, preferable Quick Books.

· Native Turkish speaker.

· Good communication skills both verbally and written, in Turkish and English. Knowledge of Arabic is a plus.

· Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office and other financial related software.

· Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
