Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Responsible for overall program management which includes design, implementation and monitoring of school feeding program and related activities in the country. This includes both in-kind and CBT

modalities.

• Ensure that school feeding programs are integrated externally within education sector priorities and

close linkages are developed with programs addressing key education sector gaps .

• Ensure that school feeding programs are integrated internally within WFP Programs and programmatic objectives.

• Develop and sustain liaison with key stakeholders which includes the government counterparts, UN

agencies, (I)NGO’s and other actors engaged in the field of food security, nutrition and education

• To support and develop Regional and Global initiatives relevant to WFP Syria’s work in school feeding

and the education sector

• Ensure active participation in eth education sector working group and other relevant coordination groups

• Undertake necessary measures for ensuring effective program management and implementation along with increasing the scope and outreach of program

• Organize periodic review, in close coordination with both internal and external stakeholders to assess

progress towards program objectives

• Analyze and support the preparation of projections of food requirements for the program and ensure

timely procurement and food deliveries in coordination with procurement, logistics and pipeline units.

• Undertake field missions to view schools and implementation sites to view project outputs and

beneficiaries, inspect storage places to ensure that progress is made in the achievement of objectives.

• Ensure compliance of the program with WFP’s school feeding policies, criteria and procedures

• To continue identifying and promoting innovative opportunities to enhance a sustainable school feeding model for Syria, particularly continuing the support for local production/sourcing of school feeding commodities and localizing the solutions for ending child hunger.

• To continue to scale up efforts to expand coverage and outreach of CBT assistance to out-of-school

children.

• Assist CO management in all matters related to the school feeding program keep them apprised of the progress of the program.

• Supervise relevant program staff by providing training and technical guidance in their work and build

local staff capacity.

• Perform other tasks and duties as required

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Advanced University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science,

Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance, or First University Degree (in one of the above specialties) with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of Professional experience (post graduate i.e. after University Degree) in the field of education/education sector programs in the humanitarian and/or early recovery context is required. Additional experience in education sector policy and general programming in Syria will be considered an asset.

Language:

Fluency (level C) in English and Arabic languages.
