SRD is an international non-profit humanitarian organisation dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working to provide humanitarian relief in Syria and in Jordan. SRD is seeking a Community Primary Health Care Project Officer to support health programs in Southern Syria (Remote Management).


SRD will increase access to essential health services for vulnerable communities by providing support to Primary Health Care (PHC) facilities, building the capacity and skills of health care providers and maintain integrated disease surveillance and monitoring by the health facilities.· MAIN OBJECTIVES OF POSITION
Provide life-saving PHC services for communities based on the internationally accepted Essential Primary Health Care Package of health services.

a. Supported PHCs will provide services according to national/international standards for the Essential Package of Health Services (PHC standards developed by the health cluster, specific to Syria). Existing capacities of health staff will be assessed and interventions will prioritise strengthening of live-saving services to meet most urgent needs and gaps

  1. Provide refresher training, conduct monitoring and provide medication for communicable disease intervention

  2. Provide reproductive health services

  3. Provide essential treatment for NCDs

  4. Identify, recruit, and train health workers for the delivery of behaviour change communications.


Health Systems Strengthening & Clinical Support

Provide guidelines and training for PHC staff on IMCI, reproductive health care, outbreak preparedness and response, and clinic management

Provide supportive supervision for PHC on at least monthly basis

Capacity building of implementing staff for direct supervision and support of services

Coordinate with and work alongside the health team and the Health Coordination Working Group


Fluency in English and Arabic is required.

He/She Jordanian or Syrian National

Excellent program planning, monitoring and evaluation, interpersonal and report writing skills

Proficient in the use of computer applications

Ability to work independently, take the initiative and take responsibility

Strong commitment to humanitarian principles

Organisation and ability to manage priorities

Proactive approach to making proposals and identifying solutions

Ability to work and manage professionally and maturely

Ability to integrate into the local environment, taking account of its political, economic and historical characteristics


One to two years of professional experience in public health planning and management


University Degree in public health, global health, paediatric health, nursing, pharmacy or health management or other health-related sciences is required.
