Salary - circa PHP 200,000 per month gross (plus benefits)

We’re looking for an instinctive, strategic, thinker and leader to join us as Academy Centre Director ensuring the delivery of the Academy’s sector-leading service to meet the country and the wider region’s humanitarian capacity needs. You will be responsible for leading the establishment of the Academy Centre’s network of collaboration centres and partnerships throughout the Philippines and the delivery of its learning and professional development portfolio, largely through extensive engagement with national learning providers and partners.

The Organisation

The mission of the Humanitarian Leadership Academy is to enable people around the world to prepare for and respond to crises in their own countries. The Academy works with the humanitarian sector and with organisations from across the not-for-profit, public and private sectors and with the technology industry and universities to help local communities across the world to become more resilient in the face of disaster by promoting and developing existing and new humanitarian preparedness and response focused learning and development opportunities.

The Role

In this pivotal post you will report to the Chief Executive of the Humanitarian Leadership Academy and be responsible for a budget of approximately $1m (USD). You will guide the establishment of the Academy Centre’s initial legal structure and the development of the Academy’s business model. You will also be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the Academy Centre, leading on the development of a Strategic Business Plan and the delivery of the annual and long-term strategic priorities for the Academy Centre.

The Person

To be successful, you’ll be fluent in both English and Tagalog with the right to work in the Philippines and be willing to travel to and work from Silang regularly. You will also have to travel extensively nationally, occasionally internationally, and to insecure environments for short periods of time. You will have significant experience of representing organisations externally and the ability to advocate and sell ideas and influence at a high level, a proven record of leading a sizable, complex service delivery operation and the development of multi-level operational plans. With an in-depth understanding of the South-East Asia region, you will also have robust knowledge and understanding of the challenges of learning and professional development in the humanitarian sector.
