DAI is looking to hire a Market Insights Manager for it's Financial Sector Deepening, Mozambique ( FSDMoç’ ) project.


The Markets Insights Manager will be responsible for managing FSDMoç’s work on human centre design (HCD), research and data analytics, publications, and financial literacy and education. Specifically, s(he) will be responsible for work streams in the following areas: **

  • the human centre design (HCD) activities of the partnerships with financial service providers (FSPs) for the design of products, services and business strategies to reach the financial excluded, and improve levels of financial exclusions
  • the data analytics and dissemination activities of partnerships with government, policy and regulatory bodies to build enabling policies and regulations for financial inclusion
  • the design and delivery of data tools, platforms, products, geo-spatial information with local partners
  • commission and manage stand alone research and data projects
  • distil and disseminate key insights and lessons from research and FSDMoç partnerships
  • produce the market insights material
  • financial literacy activities of the partnerships with FSP, to develop and execute tools and strategies to increase uptake of financial services piloted and being roll out by partners.
  • financial education activities within government, regulatory, NGOs and other stakeholders.
  • Coordination and engagement with strategic partners including but not limited to Insights to Impact (i2i), Financial Sector Deepening Africa (FSDA), and CGAP.

In execution the responsibilities, the Market Insights Manager will seek the collaboration of the Investment Managers responsible for Partnerships, the Digital Manager responsible for the execution of the technical components of partnerships on digital components of partnerships, and the MRM Manager responsible for monitoring impact. Furthermore, s/he will manage the technical consultants that will be contracted, but also be expected to provide the technical oversight and leadership in the execution of projects. S/he will also be responsible for any submissions to the investment committee for approval of funding for specific projects related to the market insights work streams.


· Drive the market insights work on human centre design (HCD), research and data analytics, publications, and financial literacy and education

· Act as FSDMoç contact person with regards to strategic technical partnerships on data analytics, HCD, information

· Manage the engagement with financial sector stakeholders around the application of HCD, Market Research and Business Insights, and policy research

Additional Responsibilities as requested by the CEO



· Master’s degree in economics, finance, social science or business administration or related field preferred

· At least 5 years professional experience in market research, data analytics, information markets


· Market research, data analytics ability

· Ability to think creatively about data analysis, use, application, dissemination

· High level of analytical skills

· Excellent written and report writing skills, with ability to distill ideas and communicate them in a compelling manner

· Verbal English and Portuguese communication with ability to work effectively at all levels

· Good facilitation and presentation skills

· Ability to think outside the box about data and how it can drive financial inclusion


  • Good understanding of Mozambique economics and financial sector dynamics
  • Good understand of “information markets” and research capabilities in Mozambique


  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in research, think tank, market research department in public or private institution
  • Experience in project management in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Experience in coordinating and delivery of consulting services including proposal and report writing
