As part of the FP2020 initiative, PSI has pledged to reach 10 million young people with modern contraceptives by the end of 2020. We are looking for a Technical Advisor to provide Adolescent and Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health (AYSRH) technical assistance and strategic guidance for PSI programs in the field; support new business development throughout the PSI network; and represent PSI's AYSRH work externally. This full-time position reports to the Director of the Adolescents 360 projectPSI's flagship AYSRH initiative. Up to 30% international travel is required and includes travel to countries such as Tanzania, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Cote d'Ivoire, Haiti, and India to work with PSI's teams on the ground. This position requires teamwork, coordination, creativity, flexibility, and a can-do attitude! We want someone who can roll up their sleeves to make things happen, manage multiple and competing priorities, enjoy their work, and liaise diplomatically and effectively with multiple stakeholders. You don't need to be able to insert an IUD (or have other clinical experience), but you do need to be passionate about and have some field experience with implementing family planning/sexual and reproductive health service delivery programs targeting young people. You'll also have the professional and emotional maturity to interact with diverse teams, manage complex FP and sexual health technical issues, and represent PSI. Sound like you? Read on.Your contributionThe AYSRH Technical Advisor works closely with the Adolescents 360 team, the FP/RH Director, members of the FP/RH team, the Regional Support Staff, Global Medical Director, other technical departments (i.e. Marketing, Research, External Relations and Communications) and country offices to ensure program design and implementation meet PSI's standards and follow global best practices. More specifically, you will: Provide remote and in-country technical assistance to build the capacity of PSI in-country teams (as well as program partners and government partners) to strategically and effectively deliver results on a diverse range of AYSRH programs, including access to modern contraception and safe abortion.Develop and roll out tools, resources, and trainings to improve youth-focused program implementation, as identified and needed.Provide programmatic reporting and technical representation for youth-focused programs and projects funded by bilateral donors (e.g. DFID), multilateral donors (e.g. UNFPA), and other donors (including foundations) as needed.Ensure that youth-focused programs incorporate the latest evidence and understanding of best practices.Contribute to the identification, development and monitoring of strategic youth-related priorities and opportunities in consultation with the FP/RH Director and other key internal stakeholders.Contribute to New Business Development (NBD) opportunities by developing new contacts and funding sources, identifying new project/product opportunities, leading and writing proposals, providing technical review to country proposals, and designing new programmatic interventions focusing on AYSRH.Assist in the development of Market Landscaping Analyses for AYSRH programs and contraceptive security initiatives in collaboration with relevant departments such as Global Marketing.Support quality improvement and assurance in AYSRH programs.Support the Department in strengthening PSI contributions to national and global advocacy initiatives.Identify and write technical and programmatic briefs, and contribute to publications, as needed.Disseminate and promote sharing of AYSRH information and initiatives through relevant channels.Build and maintain a strong network of colleagues and counterparts among donors and implementing partners.Support PSI's visibility as a leader in AYSRH through participation in technical meetings and conferences, development and delivery of presentations, and engagement in technical conversations and/or working groups with partners and donors.Contribute to, and facilitate cross-country and cross-project learning; technical documentation of learning from projects.Lead initiatives to ensure PSI's AYSRH work is state-of-the art, including conceptualizing and delivering capacity building initiatives, working closely with PSI's metrics department to capture youth-focused results, and overseeing the Youth Champion's Network.What are we looking for?The basicsYou have a Master's degree or higher in relevant subject areas.You have 5-7 years of professional experience, with at least 1-2 years of work. experience in developing countries implementing youth-focused SRH programs.You are familiar with social marketing and/or social and behavior change communication.You have a sound technical understanding of AYSRH in global health.You are fluent in English. French language skills are a big plus.Your technical and proposal writing skills are excellent, with strong attention to detail.You have strong facilitation, presentation and public speaking skills.You are organized, have strong communication skills and can manage multiple priorities.Knowledge of relevant AYSRH donors and their strategies.You are willing to travel and get work done in hard places such as Pakistan, DRC, Haiti, Somaliland, and Nigeria sometimes on short notice.What would get us excited?
