Working in more than 120 countries, we do whatever it takes to create breakthroughs in the way the world treats children. As Head of Conflict & Humanitarian Campaigns you will be a key member of the Conflict and Humanitarian Policy, Advocacy and Campaigns Department. You will:

  • Lead and manage a high-performing team, attracting and retaining talented individuals and providing strategic direction, support, motivation and opportunities for development
  • Oversee the effective delivery of creative and ambitious campaigns, both planned and in reaction to new crises or events, and provide strategic leadership for Save the Children’s overall approach to conflict and humanitarian public campaigning in the UK
  • Provide expertise, support and guidance for the development of campaigns across the Save the Children movement
  • Identify and manage new and innovative partnerships and develop and lead coalitions where appropriate
  • Develop approaches that maximise opportunities arising from other parts of the organisation, including fundraising, brand, media and communications
  • Represent Save the Children externally, communicating our strategy and ambition to a diverse range of stakeholders

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • The ability to lead high-performing teams in strategic delivery, including setting clear direction, performance management and feedback
  • A track record of developing effective influencing strategies that achieve real change
  • Experience of leading cross-functional and cross-organisational campaigns and of utilising a wide-range of campaigning techniques and tactics
  • Good knowledge of the external policy environment relating to conflict and humanitarian issues
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills in English, with the presence and integrity to influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrable ability to think and work strategically across a range of teams, functions, organisations and national boundaries, ideally within a networked/federated context
  • A flexible, ambitious and “can do” approach
  • The ability and willingness to learn more, develop skills and fill gaps in knowledge, and to support others in doing the same

At Save the Children we are committed to the safeguarding and protection of children in our work. We will do everything possible to ensure that only those who are suitable to work with children are recruited to work for us. This post is subject to a range of vetting checks including a criminal records disclosure.
