Norlha is a non-political, non-religious, non-profit association based in Lausanne, Switzerland that supports remote communities in the Himalayas. Norlha builds the capacities and encourages the sustainable development of these communities through its integrated food security, income generation and environment protection projects with a strong focus on supporting women. In response to the earthquake in Nepal in 2015, Norlha has started a reconstruction project and is looking for a:

Programme Manager

Volunteer position or Internship

Responsibilities and tasks

· Monitor and evaluate project achievements together with Norlha Kathmandu Office.

· Establish progress and financial reports of the project for reporting to funders.

· Provide technical information on reconstruction and disaster risk management.

· Work together with Norlha’s Gender Team to foster gender inclusion in the project.

· Collaborate with Fundraising officers for identifying and reporting to donors.

· Collaborate with Communication officers for informing the general public.

· Formulation of additional projects on reconstruction together with Norlha Kathmandu office.

Candidate Profile

· Experience/engagement in International development and humanitarian aid and involvement in the field projects in developing countries.

· Interest and preferable experience in the project management.

· Knowledge/experience in relief, reconstruction, disaster risk management, and interest in learning more.

· Proficient in reporting, analyzing and synthesizing.

· Degree (or final stage) in studies in International development and humanitarian aid.

· Excellent speaking and writing skills in English and preferably also in French.

· Good knowledge and affinity with the Himalayas are a definite asset.

· Highly motivated and dynamic personality, comfortable working autonomously within a team, and eager to take initiatives.

Duration and work time: At least 6 months at 30%, preferably 9 months or longer.

Location: Norlha office in Lausanne; partial home-based work is possible.
