Purpose of the Position:

Reporting to, guided and directed by the Programmes Manager, the Senior Programmes Officer leads on management of Jordan Schools Programme; supporting and mentoring all Jordan Schools Programmes Staff in their development, and their supporting and mentoring of lead volunteer Delegates/Pioneers; building relationships with Donors and Partners; and working closely with the Jordan Programmes M&E Officer and Coordinator on the Monitoring & Evaluation of the Programmes, and with the Communications team on communications. The Senior Programmes Officer also promotes and supports horizontal learning across Jordan Schools Programmes Staff and Delegates/Pioneers in Jordan.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to, guided and directed by the Programmes Manager:

· Leading and supervising work and development of Jordan Schools Programmes Staff:

· liaising with the Programmes Manager on their recruitment, development, and performance appraisal

· leading weekly team meetings and regular one-on-one meetings for task tracking and mentoring

· providing direct support, guidance and mentoring to Programmes Officers and Coordinators working on the Jordan Schools Programmes, to support their capacity development and strengthen their effectiveness until they can take on direct responsibility for assigned tasks with minimal supervision

· gathering feedback from Jordan Schools Programmes Staff, and from Delegates/ Pioneers; making recommendations for future development of Curriculum and/or processes in Programmes Department

· sharing and exchanging ideas and best practices and promoting and supporting horizontal learning across Programmes Department Staff and Delegates/Pioneers for continual learning and improvement of programmes and processes

· Leading on daily management of GFP Jordan Schools Programmes, following the Annual Plan, scheduled Programme Cycles, and Programming Framework:

· supported by the Programmes Director, leading the establishment and nurturing of effective relationships with each Donor and Commercial Partner supporting schools programme in Jordan

· establishing and nurturing effective partnerships with Local Partner Organisations for the schools programme in Jordan, for enhanced local capacity, strengthened local administration, greater sustainability and cost-effectiveness

· leading on selection of locations and Delegates for Jordan Schools Programme

· supporting and mentoring the lead Delegates/Pioneers for Jordan Schools Programme in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of their programmes in their schools

· assessing and reporting on eligibility of Delegates to be certified as Pioneers

· ensuring continuous updating of programmes database/extranet for Jordan schools programme

· ensuring monitoring and evaluation of Jordan schools programme, and ensuring flow of information and close liaison with the Institute

· ensuring regular flow of high quality information to feed Communications needs and Donor reporting

· driving continued programme growth and innovation, greater effectiveness and quality, and increased demonstration of impact and sustainability

· providing monthly reports to the Programmes Manager on priorities and progress of Jordan schools programme, any problems arising, and plans for continual innovation and growth

· preparing general briefings for staff and other audiences on Jordan schools programme

· Leading on coordination of regular Jordan Schools Programmes Staff field visits to programmes in schools

· Supporting Institute and Communications teams in planning and conducting visits to programmes in schools

· Supporting Programmes Department’s role in delivery of direct training events (Camps, Advanced Trainings, Refresher Workshops, etc)

Education, Qualifications, Competences, Skills Required:

Essential:

· Jordanian Nationality

· University Bachelor Degree essential, preferably in a relevant discipline

· At least five years’ professional experience

· Experience in leading a team

· Experience in managing volunteer-led community programmes

· Experience in conflict transformation and peace-building programmes

· Experience in programme design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation

· Experience establishing and developing partnerships with organisations

· Experience in training and facilitation

· Experience in mentoring others

· Experience in curriculum development

· Experience of working in a multi-cultural team

· Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities and work under pressure

· Ability to reflect, learn, and improve, and experience in using feedback processes for learning

· Excellent computer skills (documents/spreadsheets/databases/presentations/calendars/email)

· Excellent spoken and written English and Arabic, including written programme plans and reports

· Interest in global current affairs, conflict and peace building and international development

Preferred:

· Masters’ Degree in a relevant discipline

· Demonstrated knowledge of different theories of conflict transformation and social change

· Experience in international development especially community development and behaviour change programming is useful but not essential

· Experience in different forms of evaluation, including participatory evaluation, participatory video, most significant change, is useful but not essential

· Experience in sport-based approaches to behaviour change is useful but not essential

· Experience in arts-based approaches to behaviour change is useful but not essential

· Experience in dialogue approaches for conflict transformation is useful but not essential

· Experience in advocacy for community-led change is useful but not essential

· Experience in event management is useful but not essential

· Travel and experience working in other countries
