Job Description:

World Vision Canada (WVC) is seeking a researcher/consultant to conduct a meta-analysis of existing research and evidence on whether international aid for poverty alleviation, from Canada and other country donors, has an impact on global economic growth, including that of the donor country.

This work is expected to take approximately 13 working days: 5 days of background research; 5 days for documenting findings; 1 day presenting findings to WVC staff; and, 2 days to respond to any WVC feedback/questions, and subsequently incorporate the feedback into the report. The final deadline for the project deliverable is July 20, 2017.

• Undertake research of existing evidence/documentation/publications on the economic effects of international aid
• Present draft findings to WVC in the form of a report and main conclusions
• Refine final report based on any WVC feedback

Job Requirements:

• Strong research ability;
• Ability to document and source published evidence;
• Strong understanding of the various donor-funded sectors in international development, e.g. health, education, humanitarian assistance, food security;
• Ability to understand, analyze, and document aid data (e.g. Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development data);
• Succinct and clear writing; and,
•Background in development economics would be a strong asset.
