The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) is the only organisation that brings together professional societies of obstetricians and gynaecologists on a global basis. FIGO is dedicated to the improvement of women’s health and rights and to the reduction of disparities in healthcare available to women and newborns, as well as to advancing the science and practice of obstetrics and gynaecology. The organisation pursues its mission through advocacy, programmatic activities, capacity strengthening of Member Associations, education and training.

The PPIUD team sits within the projects department and is responsible for the implementation of a six-country initiative for the provision and institutionalisation of Post-partum IUD (PPIUD) services to promote birth spacing and address the unmet contraceptive need.
The initiative seeks to increase the capacity of health care professionals to offer PPIUDs; training community midwives, health workers, doctors and delivery unit staff and institutionalising the practice of counselling for the use of PPIUD during the antenatal period.

Specific Responsibilities

Project Communications and Dissemination

  • Support HQ and country teams with the development of counselling and training materials including liaison with any companies commissioned to create PPIUD material

  • Facilitating the smooth communications and documentation of information between FIGO and country teams. Ensuring that all country teams have the same access to information, updates and training materials.

  • Writing and disseminating the quarterly PPIUD newsletter

Administration, Travel and Logistics

  • Providing administrative and logistical support for FIGO PPIUD team.

  • Undertaking logistical arrangements for meetings, conferences and field visits within and outside the UK, including flights, visas, accommodation and venues.

  • Preparing formal documentation such as contracts, visa invitation letters etc.

  • Taking minutes at meetings/during conference calls and circulating relevant materials in preparation and follow-up of meetings.

  • Supporting the national Ob/Gyn societies to conduct workshops

  • Support the Deputy Director in the running of related workshops on contraception

  • To support the work of other FIGO projects as and when required

Financial support

  • Provide support with financial record keeping and budget monitoring Preparation and submission of team expense claims.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Preparation of data summary spreadsheets under the guidance of the M&E team
  • Provide support to the M&E team where necessary.

Reporting

  • Supporting the Project Coordinators in preparation of work plans
  • Support the team in the development of project proposals including editing narratives, preparing work plans and summary spreadsheets.
  • Proofreading and editing reports and technical documents including donor narrative report.
  • Active seeking out and collation of content for quarterly newsletters.
  • Updating FIGO website to reflect significant changes to the initiative.

Contraception Working Group

  • Provide administrative and secretarial support to the CWG including sending circulars requested by chair and members

  • Organise meetings and teleconferences including logistics and travel of members.

  • Write up minutes of meetings and teleconferences and circulate

  • Supporting the chair to follow up on action points

  • Help compile documents related to day to day functioning of the group

  • Generic Responsibilities - To adhere and comply with FIGO Policies and Procedures

  • To contribute to the work of the department and/or team and FIGO

  • To travel to / attend meetings and events if required (and represent FIGO at external meetings and events if required).

Salary: £21,000-£25,000
