Chemonics seeks a media and social media analyst for the Syria Regional Program II(SRPII), headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey. The media analyst will monitor traditional and social media, conduct ongoing analysis of trends and developments in these spheres, and provide guidance to programmatic as well as monitoring and evaluation teams in Syria while based in Turkey. The analyst should have strong knowledge of the media environments in Syria and the ability to provide analysis of this environment, drawing on major media information technology research tools. This is a full-time position. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and analyze Syrian traditional and social media with a focus on political and social developments
  • Study and produce profiles of different target audiences that are relevant to SRPII's programming
  • Identify key influencers and trends within the Syrian media sphere across political lines
  • Provide guidance on media programming in line with SRPII's goals
  • Support SRPII partners with media marketing evaluation
  • Manage different media monitoring tools
  • Design and use qualitative and quantitative research tools such as questionnaires and focus groups to assess programming effectiveness
  • Produce regular trend reports and media analysis updates
  • Provide general media guidance and support across the program


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field required
  • Familiarity with the Syrian context, current dynamics, actors, and evolution of the war
  • Strong capabilities in social media analytics programs
  • Minimum two years of experience conducting similar activities in the private or public sector
  • Ability to collaborate with and take guidance from field-based donor and project leadership and staff to ensure research meets the project's data collection and analysis needs
  • Exceptionally organized with the ability to work under pressure and respond to time-sensitive requests
  • Ability to relocate to Istanbul, Turkey
  • Fluent listening and reading ability in Arabic; very strong written and oral communication ability in English
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
